Irresponsible Dog Ownership at Bridges Playing Fields

Urgent Request for Community Assistance

Bryning-with-Warton Parish Council are trying to address the persistent and serious issue of irresponsible dog ownership on the main playing fields at Bridges. Despite posted signage prohibiting off-lead dogs, and the requirement for dog owners to remove their animal’s waste, these regulations are consistently being disregarded.

This ongoing problem necessitates that Council staff, who are not designated for this purpose, regularly clean the fields to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for residents  engaged in sporting activities and general recreation. This is an unacceptable burden and diverts resources from other essential community services.

To address this issue effectively, we are taking the following actions:

  • Increased Dog Warden Presence: We have formally requested that the Dog Warden increase their patrol frequency at Bridges Playing Fields.
  • Community Assistance: We are appealing to responsible dog walkers and concerned residents for assistance in documenting instances of non-compliance. If you witness a dog off-lead or an owner failing to remove their dog’s waste, we respectfully request that you:
    • If safe to do so, and without drawing attention to yourself, capture a photograph of the incident.
    • Submit the photograph, along with any relevant details (date, time, location), via private message or email to Clerk@bryningwithwarton-pc.gov.uk.
    • Please be assured that all submissions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and your anonymity will be strictly maintained.

Your cooperation in this matter is crucial to ensuring the safety and enjoyment of Bridges Playing Fields for all members of our community. as ultimately it could lead to dogs being banned completely.
