We are sad to report that Julie Brickles has passed away
Julie Brickles dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her community, serving as an independent councillor for both Warton and at the local borough level, where she tirelessly advocated for social justice on the Fylde coast, often facing significant challenges. She was an avid supporter of the anti-fracking movement and was often seen campaigning with other supporters on Preston New Road.
Beyond her role as a councillor, Julie played a crucial part in the Bloomin’ Warton community. She was responsible for the annual planning of village displays, and her bee hives stand as a permanent tribute to her efforts. Julie also ran the book exchange, organized craft workshops, and consistently supported the local Food Bank with significant donations. Her passion for crafting led her to create numerous crochet blankets, quilts, and shawls, as well as carnival costumes. She enjoyed baking and cooking, always believing in the joy of sharing food with others. Her disappointment over the lack of success with the village Warm Spaces initiative, aimed at helping those in need, was evident. Julie was deeply committed to her community, a quality that was evident in her personal life as well. She was a loving spouse, a proud mother to five children, and a devoted grandmother.
The council extends its heartfelt condolences to Julie’s friends and family, offering support and strength during this difficult time
