Can you believe it’s been five years already? What started as a brilliant idea from a dedicated group of Warton residents has blossomed into an unmissable annual event: the (Bryning with) Warton Carnival Day! And each year, it just keeps getting bigger and better. For a while, Warton was missing a true “club day” or community gathering. The wonderful group of residents, however, were determined to change that. They envisioned an event that was distinctly different from the traditional church or school-focused fetes common in the area. The goal was simple: create a day open to everyone – individuals, community groups, and local businesses, welcoming all ages to come together and celebrate. With the support by way of a donation by the Parish Council, then headed by Julie Brickles, local business and BActive sponsoring the first programme, the inaugaral Warton Carnival Day officially launched on the first Saturday in June 2019. It was an instant hit, and the tradition has continued ever since* apart from 2020 & 2021
What Makes Warton Carnival So Special?
The heart of the carnival lies at Bridges Playing Fields, just off Canberra Way. Here, you’ll find a fantastic traditional fun fair brimming with rides and stalls that delight both children and adults alike. Plus, there are plenty of delicious food and drink concessions to keep you fueled for a day of festivities. For those looking for something unique, the Craft Area showcases the incredible talent of local crafters and small businesses, offering a treasure trove of handmade wares.
But the fun doesn’t start here!
It starts with the parade that’s a true spectacle, kicking off from Streetwise, the hub of our local youth community organisation. It then winds its way like a bright, colourful snake through the very heart of the village, alive with dancers, small bands, and all types of music, before culminating at Bridges Playing Fields.
The afternoon at the carnival is packed with entertainment for the children. We’re talking good old-fashioned fun with a traditional games format, including exciting races, lively musical chairs, and so much more! It’s a chance for kids to let loose and enjoy simple, joyful activities.
The Warton Carnival is more than just a day out; it’s a vibrant testament to our community’s spirit, proving what can be achieved when residents come together with a shared vision. We’ve loved seeing it grow over the past five years, and we can’t wait to celebrate many more with you!
